Former National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice’s testimony before the 9/11 Commission made it clear she was not being up front in her testimony. She stated that during the Bush administration they had a “strategic approach” to terrorism. Translated: Ignore Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda. And that is exactly what they did. Rice and others treated messages concerning al-Qaeda or bin Laden as “historical” in nature and passed them on. There was no analysis. Just pass it on down the memory hole. The result was that no one was on duty when the attack on America came. And Rice rejected urgent requests to have a National Security Council meeting the first month of George W. Bush’s administration. See part of the Rice 9/11 testimony. Skip down past Dr. Rice’s long introductory statement.
George W. Bush never wanted to invade Afghanistan and build a civilized nation or destroy bin Laden and his following of several hundred Islamic terrorists operating from there. But for over a decade our soldiers have been killed and maimed there in an accidental, useless war. And as long as Islam is the defining force for governance and behavior in that 7th century hell on earth, nothing will change.
An example:
(July 11, 2012) “Najiba, an Afghan woman in her 20′s [was] shot 13 times in front of a cheering crowd (See video) in Parwan province…” In Afghanistan, the Taliban, according to Islam, use execution as a punishment for adultery, though it could have happened in a number of places, the Sudan and Somalia, for examples. And in Canada, the United States and England, our new immigrants from the land of Muhammad kill their daughters because they become westernized or bring shame to their families. This is acceptable among Muslims. It’s a part of Islam throughout the world- in Pakistan and Jordan, for examples. The fact that adultery is a crime and a capital offense in Islam means that we are allowing our soldiers to fight and die in a place not worth saving. Our presence there will not change the horror story that is Islam, a religion that is, and has been, the definition of evil for 1400 years.
The truly sad part is that we could have struck Al-Qaeda anytime in Afghanistan before 9/11, destroyed their base and soldiers, then left just as quickly. But Bush kept his hands off the one organization that was a proven and constant threat that killed Americans and inflicted heavy damage on America. And it was still planning attacks on America.
But according to former Secretary of the Treasury Paul O’Neill, who attended the first National Security Council meeting , “From the very beginning, there was a conviction, that Saddam Hussein was a bad person and that he needed to go…” It was the number one topic “10 days after the inauguration-eight months before Sept. 11.” (Nothing about Afghanistan.)
O’Neill said that at the meeting of the National Security Council, no one asked “Why Saddam?” and “Why now?” Read more here.
George W. Bush, during his first eight months in office (2001) refused to have any Security Council meetings on bin Laden or al-Qaeda. Nothing. And al-Qaeda is the organization that has been responsible for the major terror attacks on the United States and the west. That should raise a lot of questions that Bush needs to explain. For example:
On October 12, 2000, just a little less than 3 months before George W. Bush took office, al-Qaida “operatives bombed the USS Cole in the port of Aden, killing 17 U.S. sailors and wounding scores more.” No military response from Bush.
And there is a connection with the first bombing of the World Trade Center on Feb. 26, 1993 between the bomber and bin Laden:
“A bomb built in nearby Jersey City is driven into an underground garage at the trade center and detonated, killing six and wounding 1,500. Yousef, nephew of Khalid Sheik Mohammed, masterminds the attack, working with nearly a dozen local Muslims. While U.S. officials disagree in whether Osama bin Laden instituted the attack and Yousef denies he has met bin Laden, the CIA later learns that Yousef stayed in a bin Laden-owned guest house in Pakistan both before and after the attacks.”
There are more examples here.
Bush was briefed by outgoing president Bill Clinton on the main threat of bin Laden and al-Qaeda. There was plenty of evidence to target this group yet George Bush wanted nothing to do with this clear and present danger. All he wanted was to invade Iraq. But no one was watching the real terrorists.
The reason Bush wanted to be president:
Bush explained how he would become a success as president to his first biographer, Mickey Herskowitz, in 1999. Keep in mind his only goal was to wrack up a record in office that would assure him a prominent place in the history books and the United States would become the biggest power on earth in a New American Century.
According to Hershkowitz, “He was thinking about invading Iraq in 1999…It was on his mind. He said to me.”:
“One of the keys to being seen as a great leader is to be seen as a commander-in-chief…My father had all this capital built up when he drove the Iraqis out of Kuwait and he wasted it…If I have a chance to invade–if I had that much capital, I’m not going to waste it. I’m going to get everything passed that I want to get passed and I’m going to have a successful presidency.
Both Bush and National Security Adviser Condoleeza Rice turned down Richard Clarke, Chief Counter-Terrorism Advisor for the National Security Council, for an urgent meeting on “the real and impending al-Qaeda threat to our nation during Bush’s first eight months in office. He was turned down but finally got a meeting one week before the attack.
The group of neocons who influenced Bush ( Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, Vice President Dick Cheney, Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz) were waiting for what they called ‘another Pearl Harbor’, an attack on America that would give them carte blanche to carry out plans for a ‘New American Century’, a world dominated by American military power, on earth and in space.
It would mean the taking away of our rights in a security region of North America, with biometric REAL ID ( scheduled for implementation by 2013 officially), monitoring emails, Fourth Amendment rights diminished, First and Second Amnendments gone, constant surveillance by drones and other devices, and a trilateral continental security force (USNORTHCOM) to deal with “civil unrest” in North America. And without your biometric ID card, you will not be able to exist. All ID information will be on interconnected data bases for North America and eventually for the Americas. ID biometric cards are scheduled to be complete by 2015 for this hemisphere.
Again, George W. Bush never wanted to invade Afghanistan. And immediately after 9/11, Bush and Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld wanted to discuss invading Iraq:
Richard Clarke to Leslie Stahl of CBS:
“Rumsfeld was saying that we needed to bomb Iraq… And we all said…no, no. Al-Qaeda is in Afghanistan. We need to bomb Afghanistan. And Rumsfeld said there aren’t any good targets in Afghanistan. And there are lots of good targets in Iraq.”
And Clarke replied, ‘Well, there are lots of good targets in lots of places, but Iraq had nothing to do with it.”
Clarke first thought Rumsfeld was joking.
“I think they wanted to believe that there was a connection, but the CIA was sitting there, the FBI was sitting there, I was sitting there saying we’ve looked at this issue for years. For years we’ve looked and there’s no connection.”
CBS: Clarke says he and CIA Director George Tenet told that to Rumsfeld, Secretary of State Colin Powell, and Attorney General John Ashcroft.
Clarke says that Bush tried to get him to reconsider his stance on Iraq:
“The president dragged me into a room with a couple of other people, shut the door, and said, ‘I want you to find whether Iraq did this.’ Now he never said, ‘Make it up.’ But the entire conversation left me in absolutely no doubt that George Bush wanted me to come back with a report that said Iraq did this.
‘I said, ‘Mr. President. We’ve done this before. We have been looking at this. We looked at it with an open mind. There’s no connection.’ Read more from the CBS interview.
“He came at me and said, ‘Iraq! Saddam! Find out if there’s a connection. And in a very intimidating way. I mean that we should come back with that answer. We wrote a report.
“It was a very serious look. We got together all the experts, all the CIA experts. We sent the report out to CIA and found FBI and said, Will you sign this report? They all cleared the report. And we sent the report up to the president and it got bounced and sent back saying, “Wrong answer…Do it again.”
There are no shades of grey here. President Bush wanted his advisers to lie in their report so he could attack Iraq, not Afghanistan, even though al-Qaeda and bin Laden were the guilty parties. They were at their base in Afghanistan every day of Bush’s first eight months in office. He could have attacked al-Qaeda and stopped bin Laden from attacking America and killing nearly 3,000 citizens. But he didn’t. Why?
Cheney, Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz wanted to attack and “free” Iraq for a long time. They needed a reason, any reason, to begin their Program for a New American Century. And Bush also wanted to be seen as a commander-in-chief during wartime so the historians could write about his leadership during the early period of the New American Century. He needed to attack a nation, not a few ragtag terrorists in the middle of nowhere.
Unbelievable? No. It happened.
This plan for America’s future would make dramatic changes in the country, bringing about a new America, with a new, modern military capable of fighting and winning multiple wars, and being the constabulary of a Pax America, the dominating force on earth, cyberspace and in space. Included is the right of the United States to take preemptive military actions against other nations without cause.
“Bush released on September 20th, 2002, the ‘National Security Strategy of the United States of America.’ It is an ideological match to PNAC’s ‘RebuildingAmericasDefense’ report issued a year earlier. In many places, it uses exactly the same language to describe America’s new place in the world.” See numbered page 51, upper left column of RAD report for ‘new Pearl Harbor” event.
The neocons were concerned that transforming America into a world class military would take a long time to get acceptance from the American citizens. In the PNAC document, it explains:
“Further, the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event-like a new Pearl Harbor.” See thesigintreport.
George Bush, at the end of the day in the White House, wrote in his diary: “The Pearl Harbor of the 21st century took place today.” That was an inappropriate statement to make since it came from the PNAC document, which stated they needed another large attack on America in order to carry out their plan for global dominance.
Bush was stopped in his attempt to invade Iraq. He didn’t get his false report and finally attacked bin Laden and his base in Afghanistan on October 7, 2001. But Bush and Rumsfeld weren’t finished with destroying American lives, this time by snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
Our troops had bin Laden and his men trapped in the caves of Tora Bora on the Afghan-Pakistan border and the commander asked for more forces to cut off the escape route into Pakistan. But a strange thing happened on the way to victory. Defense Secretary Rumsfeld told his commander (with the approval of George Bush) there would be no reinforcements to finish off al-Qaeda.
His reason:
“Rumsfeld said at the time that he was concerned that too many U.S. troops in Afghanistan would create an anti-American backlash and fuel a widespread insurgency.”
“So he let them get away. Just like that, when he could have captured (or killed) the whole crew, wrapped things up and gone home. Remember that Rumsfeld never wanted to go into Afghanistan (nor did Bush). But that aside, his statement doesn’t make sense. He didn’t want to make a bad impression on the Afghans so he moderated the battle plan.” See thesigintreport-high crimes link above)
The U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee report on Tora Bora “states that as a result of allowing the al-Qaeda leader to flee from his Tora Bora stronghold into Pakistan, Americans were left more vulnerable to terrorism, and the foundations were laid for today’s protracted Afghan insurgency.”
As a result, we became involved in trying to destroy the Taliban, hardcore Muslims who were ruling the Afghans, especially women, with what can be described as unimaginable horror. And there we are, bogged down in an everlasting war.
The act of allowing bin-Laden and followers to escape into Pakistan made it possible to keep the terrorist group as a constant threat to the west and freed up Bush and Rumsfeld to concentrate on manufacturing an Iraqi threat. Eventually Bush and his accomplices convinced the world that Saddam Hussein was a threat to them. Now everyone knows that Bush and his co-conspirators were lying the whole time. And many people died because of Bush and his co-conspirators; Americans on 9/11, Afghan civilians, Afghan soldiers, American soldiers in Afghanistan, Iraqi civilians, Iraqi soldiers, American soldiers in Iraq.
Iraq is a failure and Afghanistan is a failure.
Iraqi Sunnis and Shias are slugging it out to see who rules the country. In addition, Iraqis are practicing ethnic cleansing toward Christians, killing them and forcing them to flee from their country.
Afghanistan now is what it will be in the future – a religious-based governance that will continue to inflict horror on their citizens, especially women.
And all of this because George W. Bush decided to stop tracking our number one threat, al-Qaeda and Osama bin-Laden. This terror group was a real and present danger. Meanwhile, Bush and his group of neocons were pushing this Program for a New American Century and knew that, if given enough time, al-Qaeda would strike America again. So they stood by and let it happen. And Bush got his way and caused great suffering in the world.
George W. Bush is guilty of the murder of nearly 3,000 Americans because of his actions and those of his associates named above.
And now we have the possibility of Condoleezza Rice becoming Romney’s vice presidential candidate for the Republican Party.
Former Secretary of State Rice testified before the 9/11 Commission and confirmed that their administration was using a “strategic approach” toward terrorism, which did not include bin Laden and his buddies.
If a president gives his worst enemies a free pass as his policy, then he knows what will happen over time. That makes George W. Bush and his partners guilty of a long list of crimes, including mass murder.
During the 9/11 Commission hearings, Commission member Timothy Roemer offers this to the former Bush Security Adviser:
“Last question, Dr. Rice, talking about responses. Mr. Clarke writes you a memo on September the 4th where he lays out his frustrations that the military is not doing enough, that the C.I.A.’s not pushing this hard enough in their agency.
“And he says we should not wait till the day that hundreds of Americans lay dead in the streets due to a terrorist attack. And we think there could have been something more we could do.
“Seven days prior to September the 11th he writes this to you (Rice).”
Clarke also got his Security Council meeting on September 4th, one week before the attack on America.
“In that meeting, Clarke proposed a plan to bomb al-Qaeda’s sanctuary in Afghanistan, and to kill bin Laden.” CBS NEWS 60 Minutes, (2004/03/19)
