NO SHELTER: Planet Earth-Too Late to Save

Arctic iceberg

“The main system that helps determine weather over Northern Europe and North America may be changing…” (BBC NEWS, SCIENCE & SCIENCE)

Since those in charge, corporate CEOs and politicians for hire, are no longer interested in saving planet Earth, the countdown for its’ extinction can continue. The recent attack by the  jet stream in the Arctic region which dived down to Dixie and has stayed there for most of the Winter, what does that mean?

It means the jet stream has dived south and wreaked havoc over the United States for most of the winter. But the Flat Earth Society that Rush Limbaugh still supports, also continues to deny that climate change is happening despite the global upheaval that has taken place  in parts of Europe, Scandinavia and the United States.

According to Science correspondent Pallab Ghosh, BBC News Chicago, (15 Feb. 2014):

“The main system that helps determine the weather over Northern Europe and North America may be changing, research suggests.

“The study shows that the so-called jet stream has increasingly taken a longer, meandering path.” And it “…has resulted in weather remaining the same for more prolonged weather periods.”

This data was presented in Chicago at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

Professor Jennifer Francis of Rutgers declared that “This does seem to suggest that the weather patterns are changing and people are noticing that the weather in their area is not what it used to be.”

My comment: The problem is still that the green house gases are saturating the atmosphere (my words), including CO2 and especially the deadly methane that has been recently found off of Siberia and bubbling up on 2 million acres of ocean, warming it and the atmosphere.

Loss of sea-ice loss is the problem:

Mark Serreze, the director of the US National Snow and Ice Data Center in Colorado:

“Fundamentally, the strong warming that might drive this is tied in with the loss of sea-ice cover that we’re seeing, because the sea-ice cover acts as this lid that separates the ocean from a colder atmosphere.

“If we remove that lid, we pump all this heat up into the atmosphere. That is a good part of the signal of warming that we’re now seeing, and that could be driving some of these changes.”

There are other well-known and respected climate scientists who have decades of work in the field of global warming due to greenhouse gases –  and their views are based on their research and have more serious conclusions that put the total inhabitants of Earth in danger of extinction. For example:

Guy McPherson [is a]  professor of evolutionary biology, natural resources, and ecology at the University of Arizona and a climate expert of 25 years. His prediction is that it is essential for many changes to be taken by leaders of the Earth now. But, it is probably too late.

GreenlandMeltwaterMcPherson: “We’ve never been on a planet with no ice, and we will hit the average of 400 ppm…within the next couple of years. At that time, we’ll also see the loss of Arctic ice in the summers…This planet has not experienced an ice-free Arctic for at least the last three million years.” (PHOTO: Ice melting in Greenland.)

“…minus the reflective ice cover on Arctic waters, solar radiation would be absorbed, not reflected, by the Arctic Ocean. That would heat those waters, and hence the planet, further. This effect has the potential to change global water  patterns, vary the flow of winds, and even someday possibly alter the position of the jet stream. Polar jet streams are fast flowing rivers of wind positioned high in the Earth’s atmosphere that push cold and warm air masses around, playing a critical role in determining the weather of our planet.”

McPherson: “We’ve never been here as a species and the implications are truly dire and profound for our species and the rest of the living planet.”

“Professor Peter Wadhams, a leading Arctic expert at Cambridge University has been measuring Arctic ice for 40 years…” His conclusions are absolutely without any doubt:

“The fall-off in ice volume is so fast it is going to bring us to zero very quickly.” Wadhams.

Professor Wadhams estimates ‘with 95% confidence’ that the Arctic will have completely ice-free summers by 2018 (U.S. Navy researchers have predicted an ice-free Arctic even earlier – by 2016.)

Serious changes will take place in the next 5 years as the ice melts. And all studies so far reveal an end game to life on Earth, much quicker than expected.

“British scientist John Nissen, Chairman of the Arctic Methane Emergency Group …suggests that if the summer sea ice loss passes “the point of no return,” plus ‘catastrophic methane feedbacks” kick in, we’ll be in an ‘instant planetary emergency.'”

If this huge amount of methane releases from the seas and more CO2 spreads across the Earth, the end game is much closer. According to Wadham, “The seabed …is offshore permafrost, but is now warming and melting. We are now sending great plumes of methane bubbling up in the Siberian Sea …millions of square miles where methane is being released.”

According to Nature Geoscience …”twice as much methane as previously thought is being released from the Siberian Arctic Shelf, a two million square kilometer area off the coast of Northern Siberia.”

When that scenario takes place in the Arctic during the summers between around 2016  and 2018, the greenhouse gases will be released to warm the open ocean as well as in the atmosphere. And the two million square kilometers of deadly methane gas bubbling off the coast of Northern Siberia will be released into the atmosphere.

The Arctic ice would melt and temperatures would climb quickly to a level beyond the ability of humans to survive. These are the best and brightest scientists in the field, with many decades of study. But when that happens, no one can help.

NOTE: Global leaders and CEOs are doing essentially very little, mainly for show. This is serious. Those one and a half million vehicles that business plans to build by 2050 will never happen. And all those billions of paper money that global CEOs have acquired with cheap labor will buy nothing.

And all that will be left will be an empty planet, filled with garbage and dead things.

NOTE: Investigative historian Eric Zuesse on Scientist Dahr Jamail’s article for a quick ending for Earth:

Jamail “…is an optimist: He doesn’t expect the survival of his own generation to be at risk in this. But, looking at the data to which he links, that assumption is starting to become questionable. He says that he is 45 years old. Although he might not end up being killed by this escalated heating, billions of today’s people probably will.”

If any readers want to know, this could begin between now and the year 2018. The Arctic Ocean ice could melt within 5 years in the summer, followed by methane gas releasing in large numbers off of Siberia.

rex_tillersonRex Tillerson, CEO of Exxon Mobil, plans to party hardy, knowing the end is here. See his view in Zuesse link above. Yes. Tillerson is serious.

Tillerson just divided up last year’s almost 45 billion dollars at their annual meeting. He isn’t interested in stopping climate change. Maybe later.

Tillerson said:

“What good is it to save the planet if humanity suffers? (Yes. He really said that.)  He says that they can’t cut down to 350 ppm. “…You cannot get there…” He talked about later, maybe doing something in the future.

Then they divided up the profits.
